How to publish with FrontPage
Important
In order for FrontPage extensions to work correctly, your domain name must be fully qualified. Once your domain name has been purchased or the nameservers have been updated, this process can take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours. The Internet Service Providers must update their records in order for your domain name to be fully qualified.
Use of FTP Programs (such as WS_FTP or Internet Explorer FTP) will cause conflicts with FrontPage extensions. We suggest you choose either use of FrontPage extensions or an FTP Program in order to upload content to your site, as use of both will cause conflicts.
Publishing your site with FrontPage
1. Make sure that FrontPage Extensions are enabled on your account. If you do not know how to enable FrontPage extensions, please click here.
2. Open your copy of FrontPage.
3. To open a file, go to File and click Open
4. The Open File window will pop up. Chose the file that you want to publish. You might have to change directories to find the location of your files.
5. Your webpage will open up. Now, go to File and click Publish Web
6. You will see a Publish Destination pop up sceen. Where it says Specify the location to publish your web to , put your domain name without the "www". If your domain name is www.johnsmith.com, then you would need to put "http://johnsmith.com". Do NOT use the temporary URL (example http://azimov.inmotionhosting.com/~johnsm1 ), as it will not work.
7. After you put in your domain name, click OK button on the bottom right. (Older versions have a button that says Publish )
8. FrontPage will not automatically connect you to our servers. You will need to enter your InMotion Hosting username and password in the pop-up screen. This is the same username and password that is emailed to you by InMotion Hosting during your account activation period. If you have lost this email, please contact our support department.
9. After you enter the username and password, you website will be published. Depending upon your connection to the internet and amount of content, this could take up to several minutes.
10. Upon completion, you will see a message that says Web site published successfully!
